About Chemical Peels
Chemical Peels
A chemical peel uses an acid solution to lift the outer layer of skin so a fresher one comes through. Depending on the acid and its strength, that can help with texture, congestion, fine lines, dullness or pigmentation. It works deeper than a facial, which is why the peel is chosen around your skin rather than picked off a menu.
Which acid, what strength and how many sessions all depend on your skin, what you are treating and how much downtime you can take. We work that out at the consultation, and we will say if a peel is not the right place to start.

Benefits of Chemical Peels
Chemical Peels at Skinholic offer a range of benefits that improve the health and appearance of your skin:
- 01Exfoliation and Cell TurnoverThe peel speeds up how quickly the surface layer sheds, so skin reads smoother and more even as it renews.
- 02Brightening and Even Skin TonePeels help fade pigmentation, sun spots, and acne scars, resulting in a more even-toned and brighter complexion.
- 03Reduction of Fine Lines and WrinklesBy promoting collagen production, peels can reduce the appearance of fine lines and improve skin firmness.
- 04Acne and Breakout ControlFor those struggling with acne, Chemical Peels help unclog pores and reduce excess oil, preventing future breakouts.
- 05Smoother TextureChemical Peels improve skin texture, making it feel smoother and more refined.
- 06Minimized ScarringRegular treatments can reduce the visibility of acne scars and other types of skin damage.
Suitability
Who can benefit from a chemical peel?
Every peel at Skinholic is tailored to your skin, from gentler brightening peels to the Zena Algae Peel and the Cosmelan and Dermamelan depigmentation protocols. A peel may suit you if you are dealing with:
- Uneven skin tone or hyperpigmentation Peels help fade dark spots, sun damage and uneven pigmentation.
- Fine lines and early wrinkles Controlled exfoliation encourages collagen, softening fine lines and supporting firmer-looking skin.
- Acne or acne scarring For acne-prone skin, peels help clear congestion, calm breakouts and reduce the look of scarring over a course.
- Dull, rough skin Removing layers of dead cells restores radiance and a smoother texture.
- Enlarged pores or congestion Clogged pores and blackheads respond well to regular, tailored peels.
Only a consultation can confirm this. Suitability depends on your skin, your history and what you are taking. We check all of it before we treat.

This organic medical peel composed of Algae and fruit acids removes dead skin cells whilst simultaneously stimulating cellular renewal and other vital skin functions. Regulate excessive sebum secretion, diminish acne, and restore skin consistency, elasticity, and brightness with this intensely resurfacing phyto-peel.
A 45-minute peel using glycolic, lactic, salicylic, azelaic or mandelic acid, chosen for what you are treating: brightness, congestion, or general renewal. These are the lighter options, with little to no downtime.
Results vary depending on the type of peel, but you can expect to see improvements within a few days to a week. Full results, such as fading of pigmentation or reduction of fine lines, can take a few weeks to fully develop as your skin regenerates.
Yes, we offer different types of peels that can be customized to suit sensitive skin. During your consultation, we’ll assess your skin’s sensitivity and choose the appropriate peel to ensure your skin is treated gently but effectively.
The frequency of peels depends on the type of peel you’re receiving and your skin concerns. Lighter peels can be done every 1-3 weeks, while deeper peels may require more time between sessions to allow your skin to fully recover.
Chemical peels typically involve little to no peeling and minimal downtime, while our organic peel may result in more noticeable peeling and require a few days of recovery. Your esthetician will provide aftercare instructions to ensure a smooth recovery.
Peels can soften the look of acne scarring by speeding up skin renewal, and they work best over a course. Deep, pitted scars usually need microneedling or laser as well; we will tell you which applies to yours.
After a peel, avoid sun exposure, exfoliating products, and harsh skincare ingredients (like retinol or acids) for a few days. It’s important to follow your esthetician’s aftercare instructions to protect your skin and maximize results.
Yes, your skin will be more sensitive to UV rays after a peel. It’s crucial to apply a broad-spectrum SPF daily and avoid prolonged sun exposure for at least two weeks post-treatment to prevent damage and maintain results.
Absolutely. Medical Peels are highly effective in fading dark spots, sun damage, and melasma. We’ll choose a peel specifically formulated to target pigmentation issues and help even out your skin tone.
Chemical Peels use stronger, professional-grade ingredients that penetrate deeper into the skin compared to at-home peels. This allows for more significant and longer-lasting results that can’t be achieved with over-the-counter products.
Chemical Peels are generally safe when performed by a trained professional. However, improper application or aftercare can lead to side effects like irritation or hyperpigmentation. That’s why it’s essential to have your treatment done by a licensed esthetician who will customize the peel to your skin and guide you through the post-peel process.
