Pico laser or a depigmentation peel for pigmentation?
Pigment can be approached with light or with a topical medical protocol. Which is appropriate is a clinical judgement made in consultation, but these are the two options we offer, described as they are on their own pages.

Pigmentation isn't one condition, so the two approaches suit different situations. Our Pico Laser Rejuvenation uses ultra-short picosecond pulses (Hollywood Spectra) to target sun spots, general dullness and surface discolouration, and it can double as laser toning. Cosmelan, by contrast, is a non-laser depigmentation system applied as a topical protocol and better suited to deeper, more stubborn discolouration and sun damage. Because the right choice depends on how deep the pigment sits, your skin type and your history, the decision is made during an in-person assessment at our Surrey clinic rather than online.
Aftercare differs meaningfully between the two. Laser-based pigment work is generally done as a short series with recovery time between sessions, while a depigmentation protocol like Cosmelan involves a structured home-care phase you follow closely for several weeks. What both share is a non-negotiable emphasis on daily broad-spectrum SPF and sun avoidance in the Fraser Valley's brighter months, since new UV exposure is one of the main reasons pigment can return. Your practitioner will walk you through the specific routine for whichever path is chosen.
Both options are cosmetic and depend on suitability confirmed at consultation. If a spot is changing, growing, irregular or otherwise atypical, that is outside cosmetic scope and we refer you to a physician before any treatment is considered. This is why the first visit focuses on assessing your skin in person and setting honest expectations about what each option can and cannot do, with no obligation to book afterward.

Pico Laser Rejuvenation uses ultra-short picosecond light to target sun spots, dullness and surface discolouration, while Cosmelan is a non-laser topical depigmentation system aimed at deeper, more stubborn dark spots and sun damage. Which one suits you is a clinical judgement made during your in-person assessment, not something to decide from a page.
The choice depends on how deep the pigment sits, your skin type and your history, so it's determined at a free consultation at our Surrey or Aldergrove clinic. We assess your skin in person, review what you're using, and explain what each option can and cannot do before anything begins.
Most clients find both options well tolerated, and your practitioner will describe the typical sensation for whichever path is chosen. Comfort varies by individual and treatment area, which is one more reason the plan is tailored during your consultation.
Cost depends on the treatment, the area being treated, how many sessions your skin needs and the plan built after your assessment, so it's confirmed at your free consultation. There's no obligation to book afterward.
Results vary and pigment can return with new sun exposure, hormonal changes or other factors, which is why daily broad-spectrum SPF and sun protection are emphasized. Your practitioner will set honest expectations and outline maintenance during your visit.
Cosmelan and Dermamelan are designed to help with melasma-type pigmentation and uneven tone as cosmetic protocols, with suitability confirmed at consultation. Anything atypical, such as a changing or irregular mole, is outside cosmetic scope and we refer you to a physician.
